The 60's

In the USA, "The Sixties", which is how we all call the 1960's, is the term used by historians, journalists and so on.  This decade was marked by counterculture and social revolution, specially at the end of the decade. This era was described as full of irresponsible excess and flamboyance. Due to the fall of social taboos related to sexism and racism this era was also known as Swinging Sixties. Popular Culture: The counterculture had two major events, The Summer Love in San Francisco in 1967 and Woodstock Festival in New York in 1969. It was also the time of Psychedelic drugs like LSD which was popularized by Timothy Leary with his slogan "Turn on, tune in, drop out". Psychedelic influenced all kinds of art like music, movies and artwork. Music: The rise of counterculture movement created a market for rock, soul, blues, reggae and pop. 1.
